Stereotactic breast biopsy

In the event that a breast biopsy is needed, Skiff Medical Center offers a stereotactic breast biopsy procedure that is less invasive and less painful than traditional surgical biopsy. This outpatient procedure uses a high-tech aiming system to precisely guide a biopsy needle into the breast tissue. A small sample of tissue is removed for examination, without making an incision.

Ultrasound

Advanced ultrasound exams are performed through the radiology department. The hospital's leading-edge ultrasound machine, operated by Skiff's highly trained ultrasound technologists, can perform a full spectrum of diagnostic studies, including prenatal and venous studies.

Bone density scanning

Early detection of osteoporosis is available through our full-body DEXA bone density scanner. The radiology staff performs this 20-minute, non-invasive exam, which accurately assesses bone loss in three separate areas of the body. The DEXA scan is also used to measure the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment.

A free, three-minute scan is also available to screen patients for signs of osteoporosis.
